Who Should I tell?

This is absolutely a decision that is made by you and only you. Some survivors choose to tell very few people and others choose to share their experience with everyone. For some, sharing the experience is just too painful and for others it can be very therapeutic, however it is important that you share with those that you trust and that you take some time to consider what you want to share and who you will share it with.

These feelings will change over time too. For example, in the beginning you may not want people to know, but after some time you may feel comfortable talking about the experience.

We encourage you to find at least one person with whom you are comfortable sharing your story with. You are under no obligation to tell anyone including healthcare providers, employers, friends, family, clergy or others.
